Description:

Dare to send a story that chills to the bone? In this hauntingly creative swap, each participant will send one embellished letter to one assigned partner, containing an original or retold scary story. Think ghostly legends, eerie happenings, creepy encounters, or unsettling mysteries. Whether it’s a haunted house, a monster in the woods, or something that goes bump in the night—it’s up to you to bring the scare!

📜 Swap Requirements:

One spooky story (at least one full page, typed or handwritten) Can be original or based on folklore, urban legends, or personal experiences. A decorated envelope and letter to match the mood of the story. Think old-timey gothic, blood-spattered parchment, mysterious symbols, eerie wax seals, etc. One flat novelty item that ties in with the theme of your story. Examples: a ghost-shaped sticker, a vintage photo (maybe cursed?), a faux newspaper clipping, a pressed leaf from the “haunted forest,” a small charm, or a tea bag “brewed by witches.”

🎃 Be creative, but keep it mailbox-friendly and flat. This swap is meant to be fun, not require a package or box.

💀 Tone can range from lightly spooky to full-on chilling—but no excessive gore or horror. If you want to start before partners are assigned, maybe keep it PG-13.

✍️ Put some time into your presentation! Don’t slap on some random stickers. This is all about storytelling, ambiance, and mail art. Your partner should feel like they just opened a portal to another realm.

🕯️Don’t forget to rate your partner when you receive their letter.

🕷️ I think this would be fun to do monthly if there’s enough interest.
