Description:

Do you swap decos? Or would you like to? This swap is for you!

If you are new to decos, have swapped them in the past, or are a current swapper - you may join!

SWAP REQUIREMENTS

  • You will send your partner one new OR established deco.

  • Include a swap note with your swap-bot ID, and have your name clearly identified on your page.

  • Check to ensure that your partner has not already signed or has "passed" on an established deco before sending it.

  • Rate your partner in a timely fashion. If you repeatedly need to be reminded to rate, your participation in future swaps I host may be limited.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

What is a deco?

Whether you are new, or just need a refresher here is a common description that is widely used in other deco swaps.

Decos are collaborative projects where one person starts the book, it is passed on to others to decorate, and it is returned to the person it is made for when it is complete.

Decos should be in book form (no corner staples) so it can be mailed folded open if necessary, and no larger than 5.5” x 4.25 so it fits nicely inside a 6” x 9” envelope.

One page, typically either the first page inside the book, or the back cover, should include the name and contact information of the person for whom the book is for and who made the book.

You may identify a theme for your deco, or leave it β€œfree theme,” where each person decides the theme of their page.

We will be swapping what are commonly called ART decos. Art decos do not use tape and/or foil to cover your entry/cover. You must use an adhesive to hold down your elements that you add to your page/cover. Sticker slapping is not an ART deco. Stickers are ok to use sparingly as embellishments.

What is a new deco?

A new deco is one you make yourself or for someone else. It has no other signers before you.

What is an established deco?

An Established Deco is one that has had people already sign a page. At least 1 other person other than who it was made for OR by must sign it for it to be considered "established."

What do you do with the deco you received?

Decorate ONE page in the theme of the deco. Be sure your signature or swap-bot ID is clearly identifiable on your page. Then, be sure to send the deco to another deco swapper to decorate!

You may send it to any private swapper or in any other swap or swap group. Remember, decos are collaborative projects and need to be passed along to someone else until they are complete.

The Swap-Bot Glossary contains a definition of decos and describes their distinction from friendship books.

REMEMBER This is a swap for folks to learn how to do something new, come back to a hobby they loved and don't know where to start, and veteran swappers who know what they are doing. With that being said, if you receive a deco that isn't great but showed they tried to follow the 'rules' of making a deco, kindly rate them a 5. If you have POSITIVE and/or CREATIVE feedback, message them politely.

If you have questions on the deco you sent, etc. message your partner that you send to.

PLEASE NO NEGATIVITY

Decos received in this swap may be moved in any other swap - a private swap or in any swap group - you do not need to wait for the next "round" of this swap, as it is not a round-robin type swap.

If you decide in the future that deco swapping is not for you, kindly offer up your excess decos in the group forum.

Please PM me with any questions as swap coordinators are not notified when comments are posted below.
