1 Peter Chapter 3 (The Key Passage is 1 Peter 3:2-4)

In 1 Peter 3, men are encouraged the respect their wives and treat them in an understanding way. They are admonished to do this so that their prayers are not hindered. Wow. That shows how important it is to God for husbands to love their wives. What about the wife's responsibility? The wife should live in such a way that if her husband is not following God's teachings and he sees her life, he might be persuaded toward God. A pure life. What does that look like? It involves much more that remaining faithful sexually. It involves pure speech and motives as well. Think about how you live day to day before your husband. Is your life persuasive to him or to others? Would it cause your husband -- or if you're single, perhaps a friend or relative -- to want to draw closer to God?
