Description:

Do you swap decos? Or would like to? This swap is for you!

New to decos, swapped them in the past, or are a current swapper - you can join!

WHAT WE WILL BE SWAPPING

You will send your partner one new OR established deco.

What is a deco? Whether you are new, or just need a refresher here is a common description that is widely used in other deco swaps.

Decos should be in book form (no corner staples) so it can be mailed folded open if necessary, and no larger than 5.5” x 4.25 so it fits nicely inside a 6” x 9” envelope.

We will be swapping what is called ART decos. Art decos do not use tape and/or foil to cover your entry/cover. You must use an adhesive to hold down your elements that you add to your page/cover. Sticker slapping is not an ART deco. Stickers are ok to use though as embellishments.

What is a new deco? A new deco is one you make yourself. For you or someone else.

What is an established deco An established decos is one that has had people already sign a page. At least 1 other person other then who it was made for & by must sign it for it to be considered established.

This is a US only swap for many reasons. Feel free to set up an international one if you want.

REMEMBER This is a swap for folks to learn how to do something new, come back to a hobby they loved and don't know where to start, and veteran swappers who know what they are doing. With that being said if you get a deco that isn't great but showed they tried to follow the 'rules' of making a deco, still rate them a 5. If you have POSITIVE and/or CREATIVE feedback message them politely. If you have questions on the deco you sent, etc message your partner that you send to. PLEASE NO NEGATIVITY

For veteran swappers: You will run a chance of not getting your swap as this is going to be open to new folks. You will also run the chance of not getting a good quality deco.

Regardless of your swapping experience, if you sent your swap & your partner has received, but you haven't received yours - I will angel the swap for you. If you do not send your swap and do not get yours, you will not have your swap angeled. I will not angel a swap if you do not like the quality of the deco you receive. There are swaps to pass these decos on over in the Deco Books ♥ group here on swap-bot.

I reserve the right to remove anyone from this swap, regardless of your swapping history or rating here on swap-bot.

If you have any questions please message me. I don't always get message left here in the comments.

Can you elaborate on what you actually do with the deco? How many pages? Do you decorate one? I’m still confused.

From the Swap-Bot Glossary:

Swap & Craft Term Glossary

Decos – A deco is similar to a friendship book and there are a wide variety of types. It is a bound book of pages which are sent around the world. The person that the book is “for” is usually listed on the cover and when the book becomes full it is sent back to them. Each person that receives and signs the deco will decorate one page according to the theme of the booklet (if there is one) and put their postal/email address and sign their name. Typically, each entrant in the “deco” must use one full page to express themselves. Glitter, sequins, feathers and other scrapbooking supplies are frequently used in “decos.” Despite the artistic expressions used in these types of friendship books, the basic rules of passing the friendship book to person to person is the same.

Friendship Book (FB) – A booklet that is passed via the mail from person to person. It includes addresses of all the signers and is intended for the recipient to find new penpals and/or swap partners. It is generally made of a few pages of paper (any size, but usually made to fit in a standard size envelope) stapled together. The cover or front page includes who made the booklet (complete with name and address) and who the booklet was made for (complete with name and address). The rest of the booklet is reserved for the “signers.” The person who signs the last available space then sends the booklet back home to the person the booklet was made for.

Thanks @DeboraCreates I know this is a swap I host, but I don't always see there are comments.

FOR FOLKS IN THE FUTURE This is in the swap description, but some folks don't read that. PLEASE contact me if you have any questions. I will answer as soon as I know I have a message as I get notifications for those.

Please remember this is a US swap. If you would like to do a swap like this, but you aren't in the US, please let me know! I would be more than happy to do a 1 on 1 swap with you!

I updated the swap info. I am sorry that I didn't point out what exactly we were swapping, other then decos!

So this is to say you will send your partner 1 new OR established deco.

The definitions for new & established decos are in the swap description.
