Description:

Hello everyone! So this swap is a flat mail package sending some local knowledge of your state - and receiving first hand information about your partner's state in return! A great resource if you ever want to travel, or just to hear about.

This swap is one person per state – so when you sign up please post your state below! Anyone who hasn’t or any repeated states will be dropped.

So what you need to include:

  1. 1 touristy postcard from your state – something you can send home when you visit! (so unwritten)

  2. 1 picture you have taken somewhere in your state. Doesn't have to be a destination spot, could be your backyard or anywhere. Just somewhere in the actual state.

  3. 1 flat state or profile related surprise. (few stickers, a notecard, etc.)

  4. 1 letter (handwritten or typed fine) including:
    • A little bit about you: have you lived in the state long? What’s your town like?
    • Your description of 3 of your state’s top vacation destination spots (a quick Google search helps if you’re stuck!) You can choose places you have visited before or have not. Make sure you mention: Have you visited there before? What can you do/see there? Did you like your trip, would you go again? Have you heard good things about it from others, or is it a “tourist trap”? Any sort of tips on the place? Etc.
    • Describe same as above 2 not so popular tourist destinations for your state. They don’t have to be completely unknown, just perhaps some place not as common for someone who lives halfway across the country.
    • Pick 1 state stereotype – is it true?

I’ll be checking participants – but I’ll put the disclaimer that I will angel if necessary. Please have at least a 4.95 and no recent unexplained 1/3s. As the host I have the right to remove anyone from this swap I deem questionable.

A good swap idea but I got confused reading the description. There are tons of states I'd like to visit but I can't write to my partner about places in her state if I haven't been there. (it sounds like that's what you're asking us to do at the start). But then you say we should describe where we live and send appropriate things, that makes total sense to me. Should I assume the first part is just my confusion and we write about our own state so the partner would have some good ideas if s/he visited our state?

@takehimaway - there is still time as transplanted1 mentioned above (: touristy postcards aren't too hard to find (at least here in florida) they are even at my local large chain grocery store.

& @transplanted1 - I'm jealous haha, I haven't been to any of the states mentioned so far! Hopefully even if you get a state you've been to it ill still be fun to learn about! (: In case you ever want to go back too.

Oh I can't wait to see the state I get!!! It is funny I have nieces and a sorority sis coming in this month and once in a while hubby gets a day off and we take a day trip to a new place so you are right, each state has sooooooo many things to do!!! I am having fun getting this one ready and planning day trips at the same time...hardest part is the "stereo type" and choosing the picture!!
